The AV-X0 Type Zero is a third generation Patlabor manufactured by Shinohara Heavy Industries (SHI). The labor was a next generation close quarters combat prototype labor, aimed to be the successor of the AV-98 Ingram. Despite being near completion, the labor would never see a rollout in any official capacity.

Rationale[]
The AV-X0 is a result of lessons learned during the AV-98 Ingram's use. This prototype model was outfitted for precision in hand-to-hand combat and carried no projectile weapons, minimizing the risk of collateral damage. This was facilitated by a complete redesign of the power and propulsion systems, which granted the new model exceptional speed and agility. Not only was it a substantial mechanical upgrade, but it was equipped with SHI's Hyper Operating System (HOS), which allowed it be be 30% more efficient than if it were equipped with the standard Labor Operating System (LOS). The AV-X0 was intended to be rolled out to Division 1 of Special Vehicles Section 2, but never reached the production stage.
Mechanical Systems[]
The AV-X0 has the weight and load capacity to easily lift other Labors with one hand, and is strong enough to smash Labors with its knees. The boarding method is also different from other labors, considering the strength of the cockpit, the opening and closing parts are minimized, and the seat slides downward.
The manipulator mechanism itself is almost the same as the AV-98, but the strength of the manipulator itself has been greatly increased, and the fingertips have been sharpened to make them more useful in melee combat. The arm extension function, which was mainly used for shooting and storing the revolver cannon in the AV-98, can be used to destroy and penetrate labor armor, thus making it a signature action of this unit. Although it was never seen on screen, the AV-X0 was able to use equipment such as the AV-98's stun stick.
Electronics Systems[]
The AV-X0 is equipped with the Hyper Operating System (HOS), which improved its productivity over other patlabors by 30%. The AV-X0 was also equipped with a laser scanner built into the head .This device, which was adapted from military technology, made it possible to accurately grasp the external situation even from inside the cockpit.
Armor and Weapons[]
Similarly to the Ingram, the AV-X0's armor consists of a strong yet light weight carbon-reinforced plastic in order to protect the pilot's life in combat. This as well as the carbon-fiber reinforced framework makes the AV-X0 very resilient and able to withstand a lot of punishment.
The machine is armed with an Anti-Labor Electromagnetic Riot Baton, meant for melee combat to short circuit and disable labor functionality. Along with the baton, it is equipped with a riot shield much larger than the shield the Ingram is equipped with. The size of the shield allows it to be used as a weapon.

Babylon Project[]
The AV-X0 Prototype was never officially used in police work. During the operation to tear down the Ark, Kanuka Clancy piloted the AV-X0 residing there to assist in battling the berserk labors. However, since the AV-X0 was using HOS, it too went berserk. The AV-X0 disabled Isao Ohta's AV-98 and broke into the central control room where Asuma Shinohara, Mikiyasu Shinshi, and Hiromi Yamazaki were located. After the Ark's collapse, the AV-XO lost its left arm and was the first to greet Noa Izumi in her AV-98. After scanning the labor, the AV-X0 attacked, taking off the Ingram's left shoulder pauldron. Noa took out her revolver cannon to retaliate, but was stopped by Asuma, who informed her that Kanuka was still inside. After backing the AV-98 up onto a platform the debris had made, the AV-X0 disarmed the Ingram. Once Kanuka returned to consciousness, she informed Noa of the location of the AV-X0's S-RAM. The AV-X0 lodged its arm under the AV-98's left arm. Noa jettisoned the AV-98's cockpit door and grabbed her riot cannon (shotgun), but the AV-X0 lifted the Ingram up and tore off its left arm. Using wire from its hitch on the front, the Ingram wrapped it around the AV-X0. When the AV-X0 charged and knocked them both off the platform, the AV-98 hung off of it while the AV-X0 held on to a pipe. Noa climbed up onto the back of the AV-X0's neck, and shot the S-RAM with her riot cannon until the labor shut down.
