The Babylon Project is a Tokyo land redevelopment program that involved demolishing Suburbs around Japan and creating new human-made islands. The final phase of the planned project was to have a huge dike that would be over fifteen kilometers long that would connect Kisarazu to Kawasaki via the artificial islands. In turn this would open up a huge beltway around Tokyo and allow the country to drain the bay essentially helping out the environment. Forty five thousand hectares would be secured over the next ten years, this means that land shortages wont be an issue for Japan in the twenty first century. The Babylon project uses two artificial manmade islands and they are as followed:
- The first artificial island is built off the coast of Kisarazu,
- The second artificial island is the Ark, it is built off the coast of Kawasaki, it doubles as a Labor production facility.
Involvement With Division 2[]
The Hyper Operating System (HOS) was created by Eiichi Hoba, and was installed onto many labors that were created at Shinohara Heavy Industries when they needed to update their systems. The prediction was that roughly up to eight thousand labors all around Tokyo would activate on their own and go rogue due to the low sound frequencies emitted from the Ark. Division Two boarded the Ark in an attempt to stop total chaos from breaking out. After making their way through the ark and fending off BEL 1999 Caldia security labors Asuma Shinohara accessed the control room and attempted to start the emergency systems to shut off the main security system, in doing this it activated an alarm that signaled the maritime safety agency on land. He then attempted to jettison multiple floors of the Ark one by one to dump Labors in an attempt to destroy the Ark itself. After the ark toppled over into the ocean Noa Izumi fought with the HOS infected AV-X0 Protoype with her AV-98 Ingram on the helipad area while Kanuka Clancy was unconscious inside of the prototype. After a short fight she managed to shutdown the labor in the end with her shotgun, Division 2 is then rescued via helicopter with Shinobu Nagumo, Kiichi Goto, and Shigeo Shiba.
The Ark[]
The Ark is an offshore platform with a total length of 500m and a height of 150m above sea level, and is able to single-handedly handle the entire labor zone of the Babylon Project. It has a structure in which seven floors are connected in blocks around a main shaft built under the sea, and most of the stations are labor-sized. There is a prong floor at the height of the main shaft which is marked D-G, which makes up the main shaft. There is an unused sub-control room in the main building. There is a control room and sub control room that controls multiple levels below it as well as other industrial and electrical functions. At the very top of the ark is an auxillary control room.
The Ark is protected by BEL 1999 "Caldia" robots which activate when intruders are detected.
