CLAT Logo (TV Series)

CLAT is the abbreviated name of a fictional version of Division 2 dreamed up by its members. Used for comedic gags, the organization has appeared twice, once in the television series and once in the New Files OVA, and took on different appearances in each. In the TV series, CLAT was the New York Police Department (NYPD) labor division, while in the New Files, it was a secret alien-fighting team.

in episode 44 of the television series, "CLAT Forever," Shige is preparing to depart for New York City to assist in the creation of a labor division. However, in his excitement, he trips and falls, hitting his head and knocking himself out. In his unconscious state, Shige dreams of travelling to New York, where he joins Kanuka Clancy and a team of police officers who are visually similar to the members of SV2, of whom CLAT is comprised of. CLAT has a high-tech underground base under the Hudson River, where they store and maintain their AV-98 Ingrams, which are painted blue and white instead of the traditional white and black. In this episode, CLAT functions as a more technologically advanced version of SV2, using a system of underground tunnels to launch labors to the surface to fight crime. In the climax of the episode, a giant robot appears, with the word "Schaft!" emblazoned on its chest. The Mega Iron, as it is known, carried a masked villainess who threatened to destroy the United Nations Building with the powerful Geo-Crystal Wand, a weapon that could set off a massive nuclear blast that would destroy New York City. Shige worked tirelessly to develop the "Shige Drive," an upgrade for CLAT's Ingrams that granted them flight capabilities and enhanced performance. However, these upgrades, along with the culminative efforts of CLAT and Shige, were unable to stop the Mega Iron, and it successfully destroyed New York City. When Shige awoke, he still believed himself to be in the world of CLAT he'd dreamed of, only to be quickly corrected by Sakaki.

In the New Files episode titled "The Woman Who Came From the Stars," Noa, tired from a long day's work, takes a nap and dreams of discovering an unusual building on the station house's grounds. Curious, she inspects it, discovering that it is a secret entrance to the underground base of CLAT Japan, an organization dedicated to fighting aliens. The other members of SV2 are there, and Noa learns that the second section is actually just a front for CLAT. Ota and Shinshi are captured by aliens, and a mysterious UFO appears which quickly dispatches CLAT's Space Dolphin labors. Noa and Asuma rescue Ota and Shinshi, but encounter a giant monster (clearly an imaginary version of the Griffon). To solidify the Ultraman parody, Noa transforms into "Ingraman," an alien from the "AV-98 Nebula," to fight the monster.
