The TRT-X66 / IXTL was a quadruped military grade security robot designed by the US Army. It's only media appearance is in Patlabor 2: The Movie where it is used by Yukihito Tsuge and his conspirators to fend themselves off from Section 2.
Design[]
Mechanical Systems[]
The IXTL is a quadruped robot, it has four legs and a cylindrical head base. It is capable of moving its head a full three sixty degrees. It uses a hydraulic system in all four legs for locomotion. While it is a relatively slow moving machine it is capable of using its hydraulic system to get itself upright when kicked over (as shown in the film). The unit also has a manipulator arm used as a supplementary device for chemical warfare.
Electronic Systems[]
The IXTL has one big mono eye sensor for its head and two sub sensor eyes. The IXTL is capable of both remote control and unmanned operation. The remote control operation was meant as a way to keep soldiers safe by using it behind lines (similar to a bomb defusal robot) The length of the wires for remote control is unknown however the cables are designed with industrial grade fibers to ensure they do not rip and tear easily. When the cables are severed from gunfire its backup computer reverts back to an unmanned operation. Once unmanned operation starts it will attack whatever target it sees.
Armor and Weapons[]
The IXTL is an incredibly durable robot and is said to have the same armor strength as a military grade Labor. It is shown to be stunned for only a few seconds after getting hit by a 20mm anti-tank rifle, multiple rounds from an Ingrams 37mm revolver cannon, and even being kicked. Its armor material is unknown but due to these circumstances it seems its armor is equal to that of an AFV. Its armament consists of one 20mm triple barrel automatic cannon as well as two 12.7mm machine guns. With this armament alone it is capable of doing destructive damage.
Operational History[]
The actual operational history of the IXTL is unknown however three IXTL's were deployed during the events of Patlabor 2: The Movie. The IXTL was meant as a deterrent for Section 2 as they were able to figure out where Yukihito Tsuge was setting up electronic countermeasure operations.
