With a look and attitude better suited for the Marines than a police force, Ohta is comically gung-ho and expects the rest of Section 2 to perform to his standards. He's very brash and often will charge into a situation without thinking it through. In spite of his loud, obnoxious, and often overconfident personality, Ohta's a good cop and is a stand up guy. He is extremely gun-happy, but tends to hit anything other than the target in combat. However, on the firing range where the targets are unmanned and he can remain calm, his accuracy is essentially perfect. Unlike other labor pilots, Ohta has had multiple backups such as Mikiyasu Shinshi, Kanuka Clancy, and Takeo Kumagami.

Personality[]

Ohta is a straightforward and just person who values discipline and hierarchy typical of a police officer. However, due to an excessive focus on the scene and a personality that easily gets carried away, he often ignore orders and commands, leading to reckless behavior. His personality is also reflected in the handling of the Ingram, which is rough and forceful, resulting in constant damage to the machine (the fact that the head part of the 2nd unit is different is because the stock of genuine parts has run out due to repeated repairs, and prototype parts under development are used, as explained in the "manga version"). Due to his brash personality he often gets into arguments and sometimes fights, mainly with Asuma Shinohara, who doesn't often tolerate his behavior. The only times where he withdrew this behavior is when interacting with civilians, superior officers (sometimes), and female coworkers such as Kanuka and Kumagami. Though Noa seems to be an exception of this, supposedly due to her childlike attachment to her Ingram. Yet he still won't shy away from giving her advice or being transparent with her.

He also often cause significant collateral damage during missions, which is one of the reasons why the Special Vehicle Section 2 is ridiculed as "money-eating bugs."

Biography[]

Isao Ohta was Born in Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture in 1972 making him 26 as of 1998. Previously with the Police Mobile Unit, Ohta became keenly aware of how slow the Mobile Unit was in reacting to the spate of Labor crimes. He requested a transfer to the SV2 and was deployed to the then short-staffed 2nd Unit. He has a strong sense of responsibility and is more committed than anyone else to his work. He often goes too far and causes trouble. He's one of the best Labor pilots, but tends to rely excessively on force to crack a case. A tight leash is required. Perhaps his saving grace is that he's an honest, hardworking public officer whose only hobby appears to be his job.

Trivia[]

  • It is stated that Ohta had personally customized Ingram Unit 2
