Mobile Police Patlabor ( 機動警察パトレイバー Kidō Keisatsu Patoreibā), also known as Patlabor (a portmanteau of "patrol" and "labor") is a Japanese science fiction media franchise created by Headgear, a project group consisting of manga artist Masami Yūki, director Mamoru Oshii, screenwriter Kazunori Itō, mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, and character designer Akemi Takada.
Plot[]
In Japan, there are construction vehicles called "labors" these labors were created with the purpose to aid the community and do mundane tasks but occasionally some go rogue or are used for criminal related purposes. The Tokyo MPD have a unit that is responsible for responding to such incidents, Division 2. This police unit is not as professional or organized as other police units, but are typically made up of a very diverse and often times quirky group of individuals. These pilots operate special police labors in order to combat criminals and other incidents often times causing many issues themselves. The labors that are piloted by SV2 are not like the mecha of fiction but are barely if not just as powerful as the foes that they are facing. Armed with a gun and baton, these pilots along with support from the rest of SV2 rush in to save the day and put a stop to these accidents/incidents related to Labors.
