Rei Clancy is Kanuka Clancy's grandmother and a character introduced in episode 10 of Mobile Police Patlabor: On Television, "Eve's Trap."

Rei Clancy is an older woman who is often nostalgic for her past. She cares deeply for her granddaughter Kanuka, looking out for her and wishing for her to do what her heart desires. Similarly to Kanuka, there are times where she tends to act on impulse.
Biography[]
Specifically when and where Rei Clancy was born is unknown, though in a flashback we see a younger version of her on Christmas Eve. This would be where she would meet her future husband and Kanuka's grandfather, who she'd forcefully steal away from another woman. Unfortunately, due to Kanuka's grandfather being enlisted in the armed forces, he would be separated from Rei to attend to his duties. At some point she'd have a granddaughter, that being Kanuka, who's parents would be involved in a fatal accident. Rei would go on to be Kanuka's caretaker and guardian from her childhood growing up.
