The SOV-9800 Nautilus is an unmanned underwater labor manufactured by Buchiyama Heavy Industries that was borrowed from the private sector by the Japan Coast Guard to investigate mysterious incidents that frequently occur in Tokyo Bay.
Design & Development[]
Although it is small, it is equipped with an underwater camera and various sensors. It is operated from a mother ship and is similar to existing unmanned deep-sea submersibles. The light at the bottom of the model is retractable. The propulsion device is equipped with both a high-speed underwater jet and a high-mobility propeller, and fins are used to a limited extent. It is also possible to move and turn without disturbing the seawater using the buoyancy of the wire. When descending to the seabed, it attaches to the seabed using two wires, with the wire is separated when it touches the bottom, and after that it can freely maneuver at high speed. It is not clear how the ship will communicate with the mother ship after the wires are disconnected, but common sense suggests that ultrasound is a combination of low-frequency electromagnetic waves and digital compression technology.
