Shigeo Shiba, aka Shige-san (シゲさん) is the Section 2 Chief Mechanic, and second-in-command to Seitaroh Sakaki whom he eventually replaces after his mentor's retirement. A total gearhead, he loves his job--probably a little too much, as he can be very hard to relax when he gets fired up. Shige is good friends with Asuma Shinohara.

He is cheerful and friendly. He gets along well with Noa, Asuma, and other Division 2 members, and because of this, he is sometimes asked to do difficult tasks for them. He is an excellent mechanic with extensive knowledge of both aircraft and software related to reaver maintenance.
Biography[]
Shigeo Shiba was born in Matsudo, Chiba, age unknown but assumedly in his 20s. He was a computer whiz and an ace engineer, and went to work under Seitaroh Sakaki in the mechanical department of SV-2. His pompous attitude made Sakaki grow a disdain for him, but soon he became humbled after a motorcycle incident. Now he respects Sakaki's legendary mechanic status and aimed to take Chief mechanic one day like him. After Sakaki's retirement in 2002, he takes over as head of the 2nd Platoon's maintenance team.
