Overview[]
The SH-9500 is a single-engine light utility helicopter developed and manufactured by Shinohara Heavy Industries. It is a generally simple design, featuring non-retractable tricycle landing gear and a small, bulbous cabin, though paired with its single turbine engine is a set of contra-rotating propellers. While this does increase its mechanical complexity and, by extension, maintenance costs, this means that the SH-9500 does not need a tail rotor, or a long tail boom, reducing its ground footprint. The stocky helicopter has seating for four, two pilots and two passengers, and has a small cargo hold behind the passenger seats. Its light weight, agility, and versatile cabin configuration make it ideal for short-range utility missions, observation, and executive transport. The primary users of the SH-9500 are Shinohara Heavy Industries and NTV.
