The Television Timeline is one of the two Patlabor animated timelines. It contains the Mobile Police Patlabor anime and The New Files OVA. The television timeline is a more lighthearted take on the Patlabor franchise compared to the Original Animated Timeline, and primarily focuses on the day-to-day lives of the members of Section 2.
Media Overview[]
The television timeline consists of two series; the anime and the New Files OVA. The 47-episode television anime is entirely chronological, whereas the 16-episode OVA is non-linear, despite picking up immediately after the TV series. To ease the viewing experience, the Maiden Japan Blu-Ray box set release of the Patlabor series features a rearranged New Files OVA, now with all episodes in chronological order. While the two series follow a linear story with some major arcs, the majority of this media can be watched in any order, as most of it follows a "slice of life" formula.
Timeline[]
The television timeline features two main story arcs amid the numerous misadventures of Division 2. These are referred to as the Phantom arc and the Griffon arc, respectively. The Phantom arc follows SV2's entanglements with the mysterious Phantom labor, while the Griffon arc follows their clashes with the Griffon labor. The television series ended before the Griffon arc could be resolved, so this plotline carried over into the New Files OVA.
