"The SV2's Longest Day (Part 2)" Is the 6th episode of "Patlabor: The Mobile Police"
Synopsis[]
The episode begins with Goto watching the news reports of the ongoing coup de tat at a noodle shop, he'd return to his car after receiving a car from Shinshi. At first Goto pretends to be the Shanghai restaurant, Shinshi following along with the act. He'd then disclose information regarding the JGSDF and Kanuka's whereabouts, Kanuka herself getting information from the mechanics at Section Two. Shige and Sakaki tell that the only labor they'd have access to is a training labor at the police academy, Kanuka relaying the information back to Goto along with the insurgents having a nuclear weapon.
Meanwhile at an undisclosed location, Shinobu would be discussing the situation with Sobue and Kaiho. Kaiho would appoint Shinobu as commander of the garrison, then ordering her to have the garrison break through the siege and once clear, withdraw immediately. Shinobu would combat this decision to withdraw, Kaiho telling her it's due to the nuclear missile within the rebel's possession they received through LIMPAC. Shinobu refuses to carry out their orders, not wanting the police to look weak in the eyes of the public over the nuclear missile possibly being a bluff. Sobue would question Shinobu's precognition on the coup de tat, her response being because of Goto's know-how. Kaiho would then tell Shinobu that Goto and Kai were friends in college, leading them to accuse her of conspiracy before stripping her of her rank.
Later Goto and Shinobu would be conversing about ongoing incident, Shinobu asking what his connection to Kai is. Goto dodges the question, hanging up the phone after saying the siege units won't be doing anything. Later Kanuka, Shinshi, and Ohta would be stealing the MPL-97 AV-T from the police academy, Goto using the confusion to pass by the checkpoint. Asuma tells Goto that he saw Kai in Tomakomai, Goto then telling him that Ingram Unit 1 is safely at Hachioji and to wait there for further orders. Soon Goto would crash his car at an overpass, changing his vehicle to an ambulance in an attempt to mask his whereabouts. He'd be talking to Takahiro Matsui, who'd inform Goto that there's a warrant for anyone to arrest him on sight. They'd meet with Kubo, who'd confirm that there would be a ferry going from Tomakomai to Tokyo via Sendai that veered off course. He says his superiors believes it was hijacked by the rebels, and gives them a confidential photos of all the different vessels in their possession; One having a cruise missile with a range of 150km.
Goto would soon call Kai as he'd be on one of the ships, questioning if the nuclear missile is actually a bluff. Kai asserts it's not before asking Goto to join up with him again, then recounting his ultimatum of using the weapon if any ships come in 1km of his and/or if the government does not give him a favorable answer. Goto then calls Hachioji and has Asuma gives him the specifications of the missile given to him by Kanuka, Jitsuyama suddenly steals the phone and informs him that the company manager authorizes the use of the new AL-X99 Airborne Labor. Asuma says it'd simply be an advertising stunt to boost sales and questions the idea of using it, however Goto would comply with the usage of the labor. Afterwards Asuma would clarify that Kanuka, Ohta, and Shinshi would be "raising hell."
We'd then see the three of them on a highway, Ohta piloting the AV-T using a GAU 8 Avenger Kanuka solicited from the TAC. They'd go through a tunnel to avoid the attack helicopter pursuing them, and would attempt to open fire at the military blockade at the exit. The recoil of the Gatling gun would be too great for the AV-T and would destroy the highway, causing Ohta and Shinshi to fall through the gap. Kanuka would make the jump but would be apprehended by the rebels on the other side. That night the others would be preparing for the operation, Goto telling the others to focus on the safflower and ignore the other ships. Before the operation would commence Goto would tell Matsui about Kai's demands, all being outrageous and something the government wouldn't do. Once everything was into position the Airborne labor would be shot from the nuclear sub, landing on the bow of the safflower. Hiromi would have the labor crush the launcher with the nuclear missile as the rebels on the ship open fire. Kai attempts to launch the missile, however the Airborne labor would have already crushed it. Ingram Unit 1 would then land on the ship, aiming it's revolver cannon at Kai and successfully apprehending him.
