The Type 98 Labor Carrier is a multipurpose support vehicle used by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Special Vehicles Section 2 (SV2), Division 2 along with the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF). It is designed to transport labors across long distance as well as functioning as a charging station.
Design[]
The Type 98 Labor Carrier is a very large vehicle used to transport labors such as the AV-98 Ingram. The Metropolitan Police Department bought this heavy-duty transport vehicle from the Self-Defense Forces and modified the trailer to carry Labors. This vehicle is used not only to transport Patlabors, but also to supply power when the batteries start running low. The carrier is a large truck that frequently tows a flatbed trailer large enough to hold a labor, and lifts it using a powerful hydraulic mechanism. The trailer has a foothold that allows labors to carefully step on and off of it for transport or disembarkment. The truck itself has eight wheels and four axles while the trailer has six and three axles, the carrier as a whole having a combined total of fourteen wheels.
Operational Use[]
Early Days[]
The Type 98 Labor Carrier as stated before is used to transport the AV-98 Ingram at long distances, doubling as a recharging station when needed. The JSDF also seems to have a similar Labor transport vehicle, as the Coup Group uses the same vehicle in episode 5 to transport the Atlas.
On Television[]
The Type 98 Labor Carrier is used by Special Vehicles Section 2 to transport the Asuka-MPL-96, and the MPL-97S Python. Division 2 would later utilized the Type 99 Labor Carrier after receiving the Ingrams, along with Division 1 after they received the AV-0 Peacemakers.
The Manga[]
The Type 98 Labor Carrier would be the primary labor transport vehicle for Special Vehicles Section 2, though Division 1 would be given the Type 99 Labor Carrier once they had received the AVS-98 Economy Ingram Mk. II.
